How can you verify a token listing announcement?
Find the announcement on the exchange’s official channels and match the network, contract address and trading pair to the project’s documentation. Distinguish an application, an intention to list, enabled deposits and live trading. They are different states; a screenshot of one should not be presented as proof of another.
Record an event in a way others can check
A useful research note makes its evidence traceable and its uncertainty visible. Update an event status only when a new primary source supports the change.
- Exact asset name, ticker, network and contract address
- Exchange or protocol and proposed pair
- Status: announced, deposits enabled, trading enabled or delayed
- Source URL and the time you checked it, including timezone
- Scheduled start time, if explicitly announced
- Unresolved dependencies and subsequent corrections
Volume is not the same as liquidity
Volume measures trading over an interval. Order-book depth measures available displayed quantities at a moment or across sampled moments. A high volume figure alone does not tell you the execution price for a particular order. Compare venues using the same pair, time window, currency and measurement method.
Ask what the measurement actually describes
For a CEX, record spread, depth within a defined price distance and the assumptions behind a slippage estimate. For a DEX, examine executable quotes for a stated trade size and the relevant pool state. A pool’s total value does not by itself describe executable liquidity near the current price. Quotes and books can change before execution.
Keep observations separate from explanations
State what the data shows before suggesting a cause. A price move after a listing announcement does not prove that the announcement caused it. Missing data, stale quotes and incomplete venue coverage can distort comparisons. Preserve the inputs and timestamps so a conclusion can be revisited.
